For anyone living in Central Virginia or the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, Truth Builders will be presenting a seminar on the “The Truth About Yoga.” We will address issues such as: The history and philosophy of yoga. Is yoga just a physical discipline? It yoga spiritually neutral? What is the relationship between yoga and Hinduism? Should a Christian practice yoga?

There is going to be a Black Mass at Harvard University on Monday night, May 12. Yes, you heard me correctly. A Black Mass. At Harvard. Here in the good ol’ USA. The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club has organized a Black Mass reenactment at the Queen’s Head Pub, which is on the university campus. This is being done for “educational purposes.” And how does Harvard University itself respond to this upcoming event? Harvard says it “supports the rights of students and faculty.” Humph! You may have seen them in airports, or dancing through streets of a major city. They have stopped you to ask for money, or to sell you one of their magazines. They are easily recognizable by their shaved heads, robes, and their incessant chanting: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare. They are popularly known as Hare Krishnas, but officially members of the International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). ISKCON was brought to the United States in the 1960’s by a Hindu Swami called A. C. Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada. I am thinking this afternoon about the nature of evil. Possibly a rather strange subject to be contemplating on a Friday afternoon. Maybe it’s all the bizarre crimes that we hear about these days. Or maybe it’s the violence raging its way through the Middle East right now. Or perhaps it’s simply the clouds and gloom that I see outside my office window.
